A tubular skylight brings soft sunlight into your home. They can be installed anywhere in your home and offer a perfect solution to brighten dark spots utilising free solar lighting. Energy-efficient and eco-friendly, a tubular skylight consists of a dome structure that is placed on the roof and is connected to a tube which directs the light into your home.

Do you live in LA, San Diego, Orange County or Riverside County? We can help you with your tubular skylight installation or maintenance.
#1 – Decide where you will place your tubular skylight. Use a stud finder to locate your ceiling joists and select a spot between joists to place your skylight. Drill a small hole to push the straightened wire coat hanger through.
#2 – Go to the attic where you should find your wire protruding through the hole you drilled. Wriggle the wire and check for possible obstructions.
#3 – To locate the corresponding spot on the roof, shine a flashlight from the wire to the roof. Use the beam to locate the corresponding spot on the roof. Then drill a second hole here and insert another straightened wire coat hanger. This will help you find your spot when you head outside onto the roof.
#4 – On the roof, place the exterior flashing centered over the wire and use the chalk to trace the internal diameter.
#5 – Using the reciprocating saw, carefully cut a hole where you’ve outlined.
#6 – You can now screw the skylight flashing in place. To create a seal, install the roofing shingles around the flashing, and caulk the area where the shingles and flashing meet. Allow to dry.
#7 – Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to install the skylight dome over the flashing.
#8 – To aid clean-up, place a drop cloth on the floor under the installation point. Use a carpenter’s pencil to trace the outline for the hole on the ceiling.
#9 – Use the drywall saw to cut out the hole.
#10 – Now insert the tube between the ceiling hole and the roof. See manufacturer’s instructions for how to secure the tubing using the aluminium tape. Once installed use the duct tape to reinforce and seal all seams and joints.
#11 – To complete the project, clip the diffuser lens into the ceiling frame.
